Living Outside
Part Two
“Daddy? Don’t you wanna come inside?” A girl, Raley, peeked through the screen door. Her skin deeply tanned from many hours out of doors. Her wise, deep brown eyes peering inquiringly in the direction of a quickly aging man, worn by long days, rocking in a chair at the edge of the wide porch.
“Naw. I think I’ll stay a little longer. Shouldn’t you be helping your...
Living Outside
It’s the one story I’ve actually finished. And now it’s being published serially via tumblr.
Part One
It was mid-afternoon, late in August. The sun shone down in brilliant rays upon the thick canopy of trees. Anyone who happened to pass the forest heard the unmistakable song of a hazy summer day: the buzz of mosquitoes, the orchestral stylings of a soft breeze passing through...

My temper will no longer be subdued.

Petit Prince
I’ve been trying to read Le Petit Prince for so long that I”m beginning to dream in french.
There’s no design, your flaws are fine.

You risk crying a little if you let yourself be tamed.

A Response to Le Petit Prince
You only see well with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes.
Especially today, it is incredibly easy to be blind. Constantly, everyone, myself included, completely ignores the essential. We are hardened by technology, expectations, and insensitivity. Society has taught us to close ourselves off, create a shell to protect us. But that closure cripples us. It makes us blind.
