Living Outside
Part Two “Daddy? Don’t you wanna come inside?” A girl, Raley, peeked through the screen door. Her skin deeply tanned from many hours out of doors. Her wise, deep brown eyes peering inquiringly in the direction of a quickly aging man, worn by long days, rocking in a chair at the edge of the wide porch.                         “Naw. I think I’ll stay a little longer. Shouldn’t you be helping your...

Living Outside
It’s the one story I’ve actually finished. And now it’s being published serially via tumblr. Part One It was mid-afternoon, late in August. The sun shone down in brilliant rays upon the thick canopy of trees. Anyone who happened to pass the forest heard the unmistakable song of a hazy summer day: the buzz of mosquitoes, the orchestral stylings of a soft breeze passing through...

Benny and Joon
peanutheadsaid: Sam: You don’t like raisins? Joon: Not really. Sam: Why? Joon: They used to be fat and juicy and now they’re twisted. They had their lives stolen. Well, they taste sweet, but really they’re just humiliated grapes. I can’t say I am a big supporter of the raisin council. Sam: Did you see those, those raisins on TV? The ones that sing and dance and stuff? Joon: They scare me. Sam:...

Revenge
Dawn will break before you notice I am gone. I have plenty of time to flee. Of course, by then you’ll probably have died From the fire I set for thee. For the last time you laid your hands on me. No more will I endure like a weak, lonely child. Now I will take my life in my hands; and yours too. I’ll save myself; find a home among the trees so wild. My temper will no longer be subdued. ...

A Response to Le Petit Prince
You only see well with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes. Especially today, it is incredibly easy to be blind. Constantly, everyone, myself included, completely ignores the essential. We are hardened by technology, expectations, and insensitivity. Society has taught us to close ourselves off, create a shell to protect us. But that closure cripples us. It makes us blind.
